Motion and rest are two basic terms in kinematics. The Basic Difference between rest and motion is that in rest body does not changes its position with respect to surroundings, while in motion body changes its position according to the observer.
Difference between Rest and motion in tabular form
|If a body changes its position with respect to its surrounding it is said to be in motion.||If a body does not change its position with respect to its surrounding it is said to be at rest|
|Basically there are three types of motion.
1. Translatory Motion
2. Rotatory Motion
3. Oscillatory (Vibratory) Motion
|There are no types of rest.
|A moving train or car, a running boy, etc.||A book lying on a table.|
