A Pyramid is a Geometrical shape whose outer surfaces are triangular. Types of pyramids with their shapes are provided here.
Lets see:
The pyramid is a polyhedron, which is a spatial geometric figure.
It is made up of two parts: a base and a vertex. It has a polygon as its base, which might be a triangular, pentagonal, square, rectangular, parallelogram, or other shapes.
The vertex, on the other hand, is the point furthest from the pyramid’s base and connects all of the triangle side faces.
To put it another way, a pyramid is a geometric solid with a polygonal base and all of its vertices arranged in a plane (base plane). Its height is equal to the distance between the pyramid’s apex and base.
It’s worth noting that the number of sides on the base polygon equals the number of side faces on the pyramid.

According to the bases and the number of edges that form the pyramids, they are classified into:
Triangular Pyramid: Its base is a triangle, made up of four faces: three side faces and the base face.
Foursquare Pyramid : Its base is a square, made up of five faces: four side faces and the base face.
Pentagonal Pyramid : its base is a pentagon, made up of six faces: five side faces and the base face.
Hexagonal Pyramid : its base is a hexagon, made up of seven faces: six side faces and a base face.
With regard to the slope of the base, pyramids are classified in two ways:
Base: The flat polygonal portion on which the pyramid is supported is known as the base.
Height: The distance between the peak of the pyramid and the plane of the base is measured in height (h).
Edges: Edges are divided into two types: base edges, which are all sides of the base polygon, and side edges, which are segments produced by the distance between the pyramid’s apex and base.
Apothems (a): corresponds to the height of each side face, i.e., a section connecting the pyramid’s apex to its base at a 90o angle.
Lateral surface: The polyhedral surface comprising all of the pyramid’s lateral faces is known as the lateral surface.
Total surface: This is the surface that is made up of the lateral and base areas.
