Difference between Trachea and esophagus

The trachea is an organ that is part of the respiratory system, it is cartilaginous and membranous and connects the larynx with the bronchi. Provides a pathway to inhaled and exhaled air. It is a semi-rigid cylinder about 13 cm long that goes from the lower edge of the cricoid cartilage in the larynx to its bifurcation, giving rise to the left and right bronchi. One of its main characteristics is the presence of hyaline cartilage rings, which prevent the collapse of the organ. Between the rings, there is fibrous tissue and smooth muscle.

In its lower part, is the tracheal carina, a ridge that divides the trachea in two, giving rise to the bronchi.

Esophagus

The esophagus is a part of the digestive system formed by a muscular tube that measures approximately 25 cm and communicates the pharynx with the stomach. It is the pathway through which food passes from the pharynx of the stomach.
