What is difference between Electrostatic force and nuclear force

Electrostatic force

  1. Electrostatic force acts between charged particles only.
  2. Electrostatic force is a long range force.
  3. A proton can interact with all the protons within the nucleus through electrostatic force.
  4. Electrostatic force is a weak force.

Nuclear force

  1. Nuclear force acts between the nucleons and it is independent of the charge.
  2. Nuclear force is short range force.
  3. A nuleon can interact with a few of its neighboring nucleons only.
  4. Nuclear force is a strong force.
