Mechanics
Types of Mechanical Waves
Mechanical waves are the types of waves that required no medium for their propagation. There are two types of mechanical waves, transverse waves, and longitudinal waves. Sound waves, water waves, and spring waves are examples of mechanical waves.
Types of mechanical waves
- Transverse waves: Waves in which particles of the medium move vertically in the direction of the wave.
- Longitudinal waves: Waves in which particles move horizontally in the direction of the wave.
- Surface Waves: Waves in which particles move along the boundary between two mediums.

you have written mechanical waves does not require medium to propagate , but all examples shows it travels in the medium only. can mechanical wave travel in vaccum?
